Were this BC Lake got its name "Shuswap" is derived from the Shuswap or Secwepemc First Nations people. Shuswap Lake consists of 4 main arms joined together at the Cinnamousun Narrows. The lake is also connected to Mara Lake and also to the Little Shuswap Lake via the Little River. The Little Shuswap Lake is the starting point of the South Thompson River, a branch of the Thompson River, which is a tributary of the Fraser River. This vast network of waterways provides for a spectacular boating experience for customers with boats or who choose to rent boats during their stay. Few places can compare with the Shuswap Lake for endless fun on the water.
